ART MUSEUMS AROUND THE WORLD

Hello students! The last weeks we have been studying different things related to Art and Art Galleries. Here is a summary of some of the most important Art Museums around the world and the links to visit some of the most interesting areas in their webpages. Feel free to explore them! I will ask you some questions about it in class and you could win extra points for the exam! 😉

The MET

The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City is one of the most famous museums in the world. It opened in 1870, it is four city blocks long and contains more than two million objects from ancient times to the present, like famous paintings by Vincent Van Gogh and Claude Monet. Each object in the museum is beautiful in its own way. People visit the museum every day to learn and understand why art is so important.

The National Gallery

Located on the Trafalgar Square of London, the National Gallery is one of the oldest art museums of the world and the United Kingdom. Established in 1824, the gallery has an antique collection of 2,300 paintings from the mid thirteenth century to the 1900s. The works include artworks from Titan, Botticelli, Michelangelo, Raphael, Cezzane, Rembrandt, Gainsborough and Hogarth.

The Louvre Museum

Home of the most famous painting of the world, Mona Lisa, Louvre museum is the oldest and largest museum in the capital of France, Paris. Ever since its inception in 2007, the art gallery has topped the list of most visited museums in the world. A pantheon of western arts, the gigantic museum has many of the well admired pieces of artwork in the history of human civilization. In eight departments Louvre consists of 35,000 works of arts.
